The 2024 municipal budget was approved during the ordinary plenary session held on February 26. This budget, based on solid and responsible planning, reflects the fundamental pillars that will guide the development of the municipality throughout the year.
Among the highlights of the budget are:
- Promotion of entrepreneurship and employment generation: We will continue to promote the installation of new companies in the municipality, prioritizing the agility in the processing of licenses and facilitating the creation of businesses. This is reflected in an unemployment rate of 8.88%, below the regional and national average.
- Support for energy efficiency projects: A license will be granted for the installation of a macro photovoltaic plant, contributing both to the fight against climate change and to the generation of additional income for the municipal coffers. Budget adjustments will be made according to actual revenues collected.
- Austerity and control of current spending: Measures will be implemented to control inflation and avoid significant increases in current expenditures, with the objective of reducing them in the long term.
- Reduction of municipal debt: The debt generated by the Spancrete judgment will continue to be reduced, highlighting the complete settlement of the supplier loan contracted in 2012, which amounted to more than €1,450,000.
- Enhancement of cultural heritage: The importance of preserving and promoting the archaeological sites of the municipality and the “Argar” Culture Interpretation Center is emphasized.
- Sustainable urban development: We will work on updating the Basic Municipal Management Plan to provide new land that favors the economic and demographic growth of the town, avoiding depopulation.
- Improvement of municipal spaces and public roads: We will continue to invest in the improvement of municipal spaces and public roads to improve the quality of life of citizens.
The 2024 budget, which amounts to €4,562,489.57, reflects a firm commitment to budgetary stability, financial sustainability and efficiency in municipal management. It is a responsible and realistic financial plan, designed to guarantee the social and economic development of the municipality, as well as to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants.
In short, the 2024 budget is characterized by its transparency, consensus and focus on prudence, the reality of the municipality and the search for efficiency in public management. With this, it is expected to continue strengthening the financial position of our municipality and move towards a more prosperous and sustainable future.
