As part of the celebration of the Day of the Province of Almeria, our mayor, Pedro Ridao Zamora, received from the hands of the president of the Provincial Council of Almeria, Javier Aureliano Garcia, the Medal of Culture, in recognition of the work done in the Plan Argar 2020-2030.
This prestigious award highlights the commitment of our municipality to the preservation and promotion of the Argaric culture, a civilization that marked the beginning of the Bronze Age in the Iberian Peninsula and laid the foundations of state architecture in Western Europe.
The 2020-2030 Argar Plan includes key initiatives such as:
- The excavation of the El Argar site, considered one of the largest prehistoric assets in Spain.
- The construction of an Argaric Culture Interpretation Center, which will offer visitors a unique and immersive experience.
- The Argaric Houses, a recreation of the architecture and urban planning of the time that connects visitors with the daily life of the Bronze Age.
A recognition of collective effort
This award not only celebrates the achievements of the Argar Plan, but also the efforts of the entire Antarctic people, who have worked tirelessly to turn our heritage into an engine of cultural, touristic and economic development.
The awarding of the Medal of Culture reaffirms the role of Antas as a reference in the protection of our historical legacy, and encourages us to continue working towards the goal of obtaining the recognition of the Argaric culture as a World Heritage Site.
