Antas presents its Basic Municipal Development Plan and becomes a benchmark in Andalusian urbanism

On Wednesday, June 25 took place in the Old Post Office of Antas the Presentation Day of the Basic Plan of Municipal Management (PBOM), a strategic document that will mark the future of urban, economic and heritage development of the municipality.

The event was chaired by the mayor of Antas, Pedro Ridao Zamora, and was attended by authorities and leading experts in urban planning:

  • Juan Carlos García de los Reyes, urban architect and director of the PBOM
  • Dolores Martínez Utrera, territorial delegate of Development, Territorial Development and Housing of the Junta de Andalucía.
  • Francisco J. Torres Pérez, head of the Urban Planning Service of the Territorial Delegation of Development in Almería.
  • Juan Martín García, head of the Urban Planning Advisory Service of the Provincial Council of Almería.
  • Luis Cano Rodríguez, dean of the Official College of Architects of Almeria

During the event, the strategic keys of the new plan were presented, among which the following stand out:

  1. Protection of rural land with natural, landscape and heritage values.
  2. Conservation of cultural heritage, archaeological sites and traditional landscapes.
  3. Clear and precise delimitation of urban and rural land.
  4. Continuity of sectors undergoing urban development proceedings.
  5. Development of the Antas River landscape road.
  6. Planning of new residential, logistic and industrial growth.
  7. Promoting productive activity as an economic engine of the municipality.

The PBOM replaces the old Subsidiary Rules (1993) and places Antas as a pioneer municipality in Andalusia in adapting to the new Land Law (LISTA), providing an updated, viable and sustainable plan.

The mayor stressed that this plan “will be the key to unlocking hundreds of projects and attracting new investments”, stressing that “we could no longer continue to manage the municipality with regulations that are more than 30 years old”.
