It is private. The oldest preserved books are those corresponding to Marriages (from 1611), Baptisms (1612) and Deaths (1612).  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1.1 Marriage Book  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the town of Antas, Province and Bishopric of Almeria, on the 19th day of April 1919, I, D. Diego Soler Garcia, married and wed by the word of the present. Diego Soler Garc\u00eda, I married and wed by word of this, that make and celebrate true and legitimate marriage, according to law and order of Our Holy Mother the Church to Antonio Ridao Ortega, native of Antas province of Almer\u00eda of age of twenty-five years, of unmarried state of profession day laborer and domiciled in the street of Granada, legitimate son of Francisco Ridao Garrido native of this and of Joaquina Ortega Artero native of the same with Angela Clemente Segura native of Antas of single state of single state of age of twenty-one years, and domiciled in the street of Arrieros legitimate daughter of Francisco Clemente Rodriguez native of this and of Maria Segura Guerrero native of the same. Jos\u00e9 Sirvent Marin as parish priest of the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Head I baptized the day 4 of the current at 6:00 hours to the son of D. Diego Mart\u00ednez Torres natural of B\u00e9dar (Almeria) of profession national teacher and of Do\u00f1a Carmen Guerrero Mart\u00ednez natural of Antas (Almeria) married in this one. Paternal grandparents Mr. Francisco Mart\u00ednez Ortega and Mrs. Isabel Torres Marin, natural the first one of Lubr\u00edn, deceased, and the second one of B\u00e9dar, deceased. Maternal grandparents Mr. Gabriel Guerrero Sim\u00f3n and Do\u00f1a Mar\u00eda Mart\u00ednez Cano, the first one from Antas, deceased, and the second one from Antas. He was named Gabriel del Sagrado Coraz\u00f3n de Jes\u00fas. The godparents were Mr. Jos\u00e9 Guerrero Sim\u00f3n, married and Mrs. Francisca Soler Peregrin, married. Witnesses D. Francisco Guerrero Peregrin and D. Juan de Dios Ramirez Rodriguez, rector priest of the same, I ordered to give ecclesiastical burial to the body of Pedro Flores Garcia native of this town, widower of Maria Soler Lopez, 88 years of age, profession day laborer legitimate son Jose Flores Gimenez native of this town, died at 7:00 am yesterday. He received the sacraments of penance and extreme unction. Witnesses Emilio Moreno Rodrigo and Luis Belmonte Aznar, servants of the parish and for the record I sign it in Antas. The most significant visits were: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visitation 1759: the use of tobacco in the Church and Sacristy is forbidden at the risk of excommunication.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visit 1765: the bishop asks for decency in dress. The Church cannot be entered with caps. Men and women must be separated. It dates from 1932 to the present. It was formed by women and the indispensable condition was to be single.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"674\" height=\"619\" src=\"https:\/\/www.antas.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Libros-de-Hermandades.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7825\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.antas.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Libros-de-Hermandades.jpeg 674w, https:\/\/www.antas.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Libros-de-Hermandades-300x276.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 674px) 100vw, 674px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:1.7\"><strong>2) Municipal Archives of Antas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the documents that are preserved we can highlight:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2.1 Ensenada Cadastre<\/strong> (1750)<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is the oldest document in the municipal archive. We can say that it is the jewel of the archive. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Antas in 1750 was a royal land in which its inhabitants paid a census to the King. A fiscal reform was attempted to replace the provincial revenues with a single tax: The so-called single contribution. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was never implemented and the towns were subjected to 40 questions.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Antas bordered by: Levante (East) with Vera, Poniente (West) with Lubr\u00edn. To the North with Zurgena and Cuevas. To the South with Turre and B\u00e9dar. Los Gallardos did not exist, they became independent in 1924. The population of Antas at this time was 160 neighbors (700 inhabitants).    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were irrigated lands:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fruit trees: plums, apricots, figs, olives and almonds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vegetables: Artichokes, eggplants, peas and chickpeas. They were irrigated with the waters (Fuente de la Cerrada and Fuente Bermeja). <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also dry land wheat, barley and corn.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were cattle, sheep (goats and sheep) and horses. All of them together with pigs were used as food. There were game animals: rabbits and partridges (also used for food). The chapter minutes are preserved from the year 1800 to the present. Although some years 1808 &#8211; 1814 (War of Independence) and some single years are missing. We can highlight:   <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minutes 1814. We have the norms of good government, a kind of municipal ordinance and consisted of 17 articles among which are worth mentioning: \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You cannot blaspheme.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The men of the Church are to be respected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weapons may not be used.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The streets must be clean.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dogs must be leashed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minutes 1820. It is agreed to celebrate the Constitution of 1812. It was the 1st census that was carried out. All the population data prior to them are indicative. This census indicates: name, profession, age, marital status, etc. It is incomplete and Antas in that year had 2.751 inhabitants.   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1861. The aim was to modernize agriculture. The rights of species consumed therein cannot be demanded, nor will they be included in the distributions of species.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They will have tax benefits: they will be exempt from mortgages (5 years) and inheritance taxes, they will be exempt from paying taxes for 10 years and in some cases they will be exempt for up to 19 years.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following agricultural colonies are worth mentioning:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Don Luis Gim\u00e9nez Cano, has 3 agricultural colonies in El Real de Antas:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Colonized plains or &#8220;acierto&#8221;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Real Alto and Cuesta de las Cuevas or &#8220;El trabajo&#8221;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cruz de Antas or &#8220;Perseverancia&#8221; had 70 hectares (37 irrigated and 33 rainfed).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The irrigated lands produced oranges and lemons and the rainfed lands produced wheat, barley and corn. The exploitation of these lands was carried out through tenant farmers or settlers, with up to 96 people working on them. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-D.
